Temple #1. Salt Lake City.

As part of Bobbie's Birthday Weekend we went to the Salt Lake Temple.

(Part also in fulfilling the big New Years Resolution)

It was such an amazing experience! The Salt Lake Temple was like a whole nother world, both inside and out. There were so many historic buildings downtown near Temple Square that we could have stayed there ALL DAY LONG!

The Joseph Smith building looked really neat when we drove by, I'd really like to see that one sometime.

There is nothing more special than going to the temple with your eternal companion. It refreshes in the most powerful way the true purpose of our mission here on Earth.

The real meaning of happiness and how to obtain it is nowhere else for me but in this true gospel.

The good thing about being married and New Years is your resolutions affect your spouse as much as theirs affect you! So it is kind of like double resolutions because mostly they are for both of us :) It is a lot easier to accomplish your goals when you have such a strong support at home!

The Great Gathering...

The past couple days I have been reading the first book of the series, Standing in Holy Places by Chad Daybell. I was so excited that Jeff got me these books for Christmas because I have been wanting to read them for awhile. This lady came into work one day and started telling Lauren and I all about them, making me so interested! But.. of course I always have a million projects going on and a long list of books I was already reading, so I just kinda pushed it aside for a bit. Now that I have the books I just am not nearly as productive with my time! I just want to stay up super late reading them, get up super early reading them and not do any cleaning or cooking either! So this is probably making you totally interested in what the books are about.

Without blowing away too much of the story... it is kind of a "what COULD happen" in the last days. This author developed different characters who are all related somehow in the story and follows them through their trials. There are some real challenging times that are presented to these characters, and it is amazing how blessed they are to be able to survive. Over the past few months I have been so very intrigued by prophesies, scriptures and books about what we know or may think we know about what will happen/is happening in the last days. So it is neat to see some of those ideas thrown into an intense fictional novel. Check them out, they are super good, pretty quick reads!

Today was kind of a weird, off day. I probably complained about it a little more than necessary, but that's why I have such a great husband who listens to it anyway. Not only does he listen and make me realize how lucky we are to have such a great life...he shows me when I get home! I wanted to hurry and rush to leave once I got home, run this errand..run that errand..hurry while we have time. Then Jeff was sitting on the computer and said,"Ok we can go. Don't you want to change first?" I was like,"Uh no. Why would I change. We're just going real fast so lets hurry." Then he said,"Ok we can go. Could you run and grab my keys out of the room" I was like,"We don't need them I've got my keys right here in my hand. Let's hurry and go." Then he said,"Ok could you just run and grab my wallet for me real fast while I finish this." I was like,"Babe, haha, why do you need your wallet? I have my purse right here. Why are you bein so lazy."(Smiling now because I know he is just wanting me to do something for him so he knows I love him. We sometimes like each other just to do little things for us so we can thank them in a cute way and let them know how much we need them and love and appreciate them.) So I said,"Ok, I'll go grab your wallet for you my love." BAM! Walked right into a surprise "I LOVE YOU" of my very own. A sweet note (which Jeff is the absolute best at always!) and the most beautiful, sweetest smelling red roses I have ever seen! (or at least sine the last time I got them from him :) Man, I am such a lucky lucky girl. And NO you crazy other girls who are getting jealous right now, you can't have him. He is mine Always & Forever.

Christmas Day!

Oh Christmas! The only day of the year where we allow others to see how we(I) look in the morning when I first wake up! HAHA. We made a pallet on the living room floor Christmas Eve and slept to Elf playing and tree lights twinkling, it was awesome! Jeff ended up on the couch because supposedly I was taking all the room on our little twin sized blanket floor bed. I really don't understand how a twin sized bed it totally comfy to take naps on when engaged and then aren't big enough once you get married? Christmas was so much fun this year! Not just because we spoiled each other so much, but mostly because we made an extra special effort to be generous to others and decorated our house a lot. Also I started playing Christmas music, melting Christmas Tree Sentsy and begging to put the tree up November 1st! I knew with how quick this year has flown by we wouldn't get into the Christmas spirit without starting super duper early. We ended up really liking it that way and may have to do it again next year :) (Probably not, but I totally hope so!) Thanks to all of our great family and friends who mailed us cards, dropped of treats, called to check in, and were fun to have around for this special season of the year! I definitely felt a special love for those around me this holiday as I took more time to appreciate them and the Christ like examples they show to us all year round. We love you all! And are so grateful for the true meaning of this beautiful time of year, and especially this day.

I picked an awesome one..this Reflections of Christ calendar! :) I love love love these pictures and this calendar will give me all year to decide which picture is my favorite and should be blown up for our a wall somewhere in our house! I have only been to my two favorite temples as of yet. St. George (where I was sealed to my amazing partner for all of time and eternity) and San Diego(the futuristic castle. So that means I have only gone to like a new temple once a year! Way sad! So I start over for the new year, visIts don't count until January 1, 2011. If anyone wants to make this their New Years Resolution with me feel free! :) We can car pool, haha. I love to save all the little schedule books, so I'm sure when I get it all done I will have some kinda picture showing you all how it turned out! What a great way to see all the different places I haven't been to in our beautiful state!

So this year, (although we are still SO BUSY IT'S UNREAL!) we made time to get some done. :) We love them! Cookies N Cream Fudge

So this weekend I made some Cookies N Cream fudge for Jeff's mom. Some of the other kids really liked it and wanted the recipe...so here ya go! :) Hope you make lots and love it! I think this is a great treat for holiday parties and dinners because you can make it fit into any container or set on any sized tray. Plus doesn't everyone love OREOS? (You can see other sweets recipes on our recipes page)

My first Crock Pot Meal...

So this picture truly does not give the meal justice! It was delicious and not dry at all, like it looks! haha. But Jeff bought a small roast and after talking to my sweet mother-in-law this weekend about how I have never used my crock pot, I decided I better give it a try! So this is how I did it...

1-small roast, brown outside over the stove before you put into crock pot.
2-cans of Campbell's Select Harvest (Light) Southwestern-Style Vegetable soup
1/2-can of water
5-sticks of freshly chopped celery
5-small red potatoes, chopped
1-pinch of basil
1-pinch of rosemary

Cook in crock pot on HIGH for 5-6 hours or until meat is cooked thoroughly. Can shred meat and serve as a soup, or can drain veggies and serve on the side of meat dish. Such great, rich flavor!

Latest little craft projects...

So I have all of these class vases and I know there is so much you can do with them that I get too overwhelmed and they just sit in cabinets! And one winter thing that I absolutely love is YARN! I know that is kind of a strange thing to love, but in 3rd grade they taught us how to knit in art class and ever since then I have just loved the look, feel, colors and everything else about yarn! And what a cheap fun way to add some decoration to our home! I wanted to tie it into the holiday wreath I made with the ornaments, but I just got too carried away with all the glittery ornaments I forgot to put the yarn in.

The other project I have been working on are tree shaped decorations like these. I have a few different sizes I have been making with inspiration from Lety, who taught me how to do the felt roses. She used this same idea for a wreath she made, which is adorable! I wanted to do something a little different and saw some cute tree shaped decorations at Target(that were like $30 for a tiny little tree!!) and since I already had a wreath idea in mind I tried to create my own little tree things. And WALLA...plus they look super cute on my candle holders.

Ornament Wreath Project

So my big project this past week was this ornament wreath! I bought all the ornaments at the dollar store!

If you try to make one I would definitely have someone take a look at it every few minutes to make sure you are putting them on ok! This is because if you are anything like me you will just keep piling the ornaments on layer after layer after layer! I don't know how many times Jeff said..."WHOA, I think you have enough ornaments on that thing!" Then it would be completely full on one side and empty on the other so I just had to add more. But it's so super fun! I love it :) My mom used to make wreaths all the time for like every holiday growing up and until just barely I haven't really been into them until I remembered she used to. It really makes your home look welcoming having something cute hang on the door!

Jeff was so happy I found "Christmas Tree" sentsy :) Thank you Tai Pan, thanks to the smell of our house you'd never know we have a fake tree!

We still have so much work to do! But it finally feels like the holidays in our home!!! I LOVE IT :)

Chocolate Gravy & Biscuits

Today I wanted to make Jeff a special breakfast. So I went to the recipe book of the greatest chef I know...NANA's cook book. A few years ago (2004) Nana gave each family a really special gift for Christmas. She compiled a recipe book of all our favorites and some of hers. One of my favorites that I have never had anywhere besides her little house in Oklahoma was this one I made for Jeff this morning. Chocolate gravy and biscuits. It was a lot easier to make than I thought and tasted JUST LIKE HERS! (this was a good sign...means I just might have potential to be a good cook after all) The only bad part about this morning was how smoky it got in the kitchen when I was cookin' all this good stuff. So my poor husband wasn't woken up by a sweet kiss and nice warm plate of food, instead the loud howling of our fire alarm brought him storming into the kitchen in panic. We couldn't figure out how to turn the darn thing off either! So it just beeped and beeped and beeped. But breakfast was great anyhow! And just for the record nothing was burned. :) It was all delicious and Jeff loved it! Even though he couldn't believe people actually eat this for breakfast. I just told him it's a southern thing. It is right? She is from Arkansas after all.

DI filing cabinet! You have to be so quick to get things at DI when you see them, because a while ago I found this awesome, tall filing cabinet and went back later to show Jeff and it was GONE! So I'm glad I finally found another wood one to redo!

So this book shelf was from the DI too, seriously looked and looked for this thing FOR MONTHS! These pictures don't show it with the shelves put in, but you get the idea. (The shelves are turquoise though if you just couldn't picture it in your mind)

All we have left to do is redo the "L" shaped desk! Who knows when that will get done considering how long this all took me, but gotta get it done before the holidays!

So Jeff turned 24! Can you believe it?! He is a lucky guy cause he got 4 days worth of birthday dinners! For his actual birthday we went to Vegas and hung out for the day. It was pretty fun, but we are always ready to get out of that crazy place by the end of the day! Here are some pictures of it!

So the other day this guy at work asked me where the name "bangs" come from.
It was kind of weird and definitely random, but whatever...I guess we all ask weird stuff sometimes to total strangers. Anyways! I was thinking about that question because I totally love random facts that no body truly cares about, just makes interesting conversation. I went to some answer bag website, typed in my question and here's what they came up with:
The origin of bangs (the word is occasionally found in the singular bang), referring to a fringe of hair falling over the forehead (especially if cut square), is uncertain.

A common explanation, and the most likely one, is that bang(s) is short for bangtail. A bangtail is a horse's tail trimmed horizontally, so that the tail has a flat, even end, and hence a horse having such a tail. (By the early twentieth century, bangtail was used generically for 'a racehorse'.)

This leaves the question of the origin of bangtail. The word bang 'to strike violently' or 'a sudden striking blow or sound' has an adverbial sense 'suddenly; abruptly; completely; directly', as in "he walked bang up to me," "a slam-bang effort," or, closer for our purposes, "to cut (something) bang off." Our bangs is probably from this adverbial use, one way or another: either it comes directly from this adverb, or bangtail itself is from this adverb and bang(s) is short for bangtail.

Our First Anniversary!!!

So we celebrated our first anniversary!

(Not like we didn't think we'd make it...just didn't realize it would get here so fast!!!)

Thanks so much for all the calls and texts we got about it...that made it so special to remember all the great people that have been so supportive of our life together. We are so blessed to have such great family and friends. We love you!

We took a long weekend to San Diego for a much needed vacation and just like we did for our honeymoon.

One of our favorite parts is the drive out there. Some people think we are crazy for doing so much driving in such a little tmie, but we love spending so much time together in the car. Listening to music, talking, me getting to nap, making random stops, it's all so fun together.

While we were on our trip the weather was PERFECT! It was so so so beautiful.

We spend a whole day at the beach, went shopping every day, got to see the temple(not go in because they were closed that weekend :( ), and went on a dinner cruise.

The dinner cruise was the most stressful thing ever! Although Jeff knows his way around that town pretty well, I still get way mixed up(weird cause city girl and small town boy haha who knew). So Jeff was driving and I was giving him directions..the WRONG directions. So we had 40 minutes to get on the ship and we headed to the opposite end of town and were stuck in traffic. I called the cruise line and they said there was no refunds or exchanges so we were certain we were going to miss out on our whole dinner cruise! Once we finally turned around and got downtown there was so much traffic and people walking everywhere because of course there was a Pedres game going that night! haha. So here we are driving downtown, no idea where to go and pretty much ran out of time, super upset that we wasted the whole dinner cruise. BUT! I called the sweet cruise lady again and she helped us figure out where we were and stayed on the phone with us til we got to the parking lot we needed! Thank heaven for her and her patience :) And thank heaven for Jeff's amazing big city driving skills!!!

Once we got on the ship we loved it. They gave us sparkling cidar when we got on,

(didn't even have to ask us, just assumed I wasn't 21 and gave it to me and then Jeff said same).

We had a live band, though they were more for the older crowd, so we wen tto the other floor and danced with the DJ..it was so much fun! Man can Jeff dance ;)

All in all amazing trip! Made us miss our cruise...so we decided we have to go next year again! So friends start saving your money so you can come with! :)

We live in the wild!

So today when we came home there were big metal traps all over and our neighbor was crawling around looking in the bushes. Turns out.... WE ARE LIVING IN THE WILD! Sure we see skunks every now and then, but we were not aware that a family of RACOONS!!! are living in our complex! These guys were trying to trap the poor baby racoons. I guess the momma had gotten away after she tried to attack the neighbor guy, but two babies were hiding from the neighbor under the bushes. They looked so sad and CUTE! I wish they weren't so wild so we could keep them as a pets or something. I hope they escape and move to the pond park up the street. Poor animals. I just hope no one kills them:(
Does anyone know what they do with baby racoons when they are found in the city? (only comment if nothing to do with hunting or death)

25 main is refreshingly good!

It is such a great place to have dinner dates to catch up with someone. Tonight I got to eat dinner there with mom to catch up on crazy life! It was so much fun to meet and eat. It's pretty quiet in there so hopefully more people will start eating there so it doesn't go out of business!

I hate when my favorite places go out of business...happens a lot these days it feels like. poor sad economy.

So Jeff came home the other day with a project for school. He wanted me to write down all the letters of the alphabet to hlep make him a font and turns out you upload it to the computer and WALLAH! I am writing in my own hand writing on the computer. Genius really. I know some people have a hard time reading my handwriting, but oh well...cause now I can use it wherever I want on-line & in person. (It's copy writed now so NO COPYING MY FONT! jk.)

So we are super duper excited for the new season of GLEE to start next week!

We've been watching the season 1 dvd and it is consuming all of our spare time (sounds like Jeff with LOST...cause it's about the same).

Glee is such a funny show! We LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

We love Fin, he's so sweet and always does the right thing, but gets screwed over all the time.

This weekend we went up to Provo for the first game of the season and it was so much fun!

This was a special game because they had the All American QBs come out and talk at half time. So there were some real classic players there. Also Elder Holland came to the game, so it was cool to see him. All and all good fun quick trip!

Dear Rachelle. As you have previously requested... here are my secret weapons to my sugar cookies!
1. Food Network (ONLY!) flat cookie sheet. I don't know what it is about this cookie sheet, but no other pan I have used works as well. My Aunt Lisa shared this little secret with me last Christmas. You can get these anywhere that sells Food Network cooking supplies. i.e. KOHLS
2. This is what I make the cookies from, good ol' cookie in a bag! Thank you Betty Crocker.

3. The frosting I do make from scratch, but if you are in a hurry Vanilla Frosting is always the way to go with sugar cookies.

Frosting:
3 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
dash of salt

Then sprinkles on top!

Project Monday!!!

Today was my day off and I did crafts all day! Lately the house has felt just so blah! So I decided to make some curtains and a new center piece for the dining room. They both turned out so great!!!! I am so excited about what they add to the room. It was hard to get a good picture of the curtain because of the nasty 70s chandelier hanging in the middle of the cieling, but maybe you'll get the idea. The faberic is the same as what we used to redo the dining room chairs. I LOVE IT!!!

Larsen Reunion Weekend...

This weekend we went out to Orangeville for the 2010 Larsen Reunion! It was so much fun to see everyone. It is so crazy how fast time flies by... we couldn't believe it had been six months since seeing some of the family. Kids grow a freakin ton in six months! It is so weird that the babies are starting to walk and talk... but I guess that's just what happens. All the nieces and nephews are so adorable, we just love getting to play with them! We also loved four wheeling this trip! It was super fun and different to get to go riding. It was crappy that Steven got a ticket :(, but super glad there was only one ticket and not more. We are so sad that summer is almost over! It just flew by way too fast!

"Our Heritage"

For the past couple weeks I have been reading "Our Heritage". I found it a long time ago in Jeff's little Braves locker thing and wondered what it was. It somehow kept getting moved all around so I saw it a lot and one night just started reading it. On the cover, underneath the title is says, "A Brief History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" which is basically what the whole book is about.

I have realized lately that there is a lot of church history that I don't know about, so I thought this book would be a good source to read from. When reading I learned a lot of new things, but there is one part I already knew, a story that always hits me really hard(in a good/emotional kind of way), which confirms over and over how true the Church really is. The part of history that really touches me is the story of Joseph Smith.

To know that this man fully devoted his whole life for the better of man kind is remarkable. I know that Joseph Smith was guided and directed by our Father, not only because of the amazing things he did for others, but also because of the herendous things he went through. When reading about the formation of the Church it really struck me,"Of course Joseph Smith was a true Prophet of God, how could anyone think otherwise?! There is no other way that a man would be able to create such a perfect organization on his own, let alone such a young man. To think that so quickly and perfectly the Church could be lead by such an ogranized manner that could last without needing to be changed for an improved way. The Lord's Church is perfection!"

Facial...

So getting a facial could be like the most amazing feeling ever! I LOVE IT! My husband is the most amazing ever and got me a pass to get a facial from COLOUR..I'm so lucky right! I know! It feels so good to have someone rub your face, which sounds super creepy, but almost more relaxing then a normal massage. I think it's because of the super refreshing masks and oils they put on your face. Plus the girl was so adorable and told me all kinds of tips for my skin. I think I would love to do this for a living! How awesome of a job would that be to help people feel beautiful everyday, and have them dying to come see you! I know I'm dying to see her again already. If you want her name let me know..she did awesome!

Today we went and got a snowcone...not too many days left to do it! My favorite blue cotton candy and Jeff's favorite blue coconut with tigers blood! Only the best :) We spent the rest of the day swimming! It was so fun to spend the day outside together.

Today Mom told us about this AMAZING sale going on at Albertsons. I never really look at the ads when they come in the mail every week, but I think now we are gonna have to! It is incredible how much money you save! Today we went and bought our favorite canned veggies for 39cents! It was only $20 for 50 cans..that would last the two of us forever! We also got our favorite kinds of cereal for like $1.50 a box and some baking stuff for like 50cents! We decided officially we're grown ups because we get so excited about weird things like grocery sales!!! The people working at the Albersons were so nice too, we might just have to start shopping there instead of icky Wal-mart! But the most important part of this is that we've officially started our food storage! :) For months I have been talking about it and we've been waiting for some case lot sale or something to get us kick started. I moved all my craft stuff into a pile in the spare room for now so we have plenty of room in the kitchen for our storage. It makes me feel less paranoid about a disaster knowing we are trying to be prepared. If anyone has any tips for us let me know! :)

The other night we went and saw The Other Guys... it was RANDOM. Loved some parts and laughed way way hard, but thought it was way weird too. Mixed feelings for sure. It kind of reminded me of Anchorman. So if you liked that show, you'd probably like this one too! If you didn't you might be a little more impressed with this one than Anchorman, but probably might not like it still. I'd wait until it comes out to Redbox though if I could do it again.

Lagoon Weekend

So this weekend we went to Lagoon and Lagoon-A-Beach with Joe and Libby. It was so much fun!!! We loved it :) Friday we all did all of the rides. The first ride we did the the "Cliff Hanger" where we got SOAKING WET!!! Libby and I both had demin on so we were wet the whole day. Lucky for me the morning of our adventure I asked Jeff if there were any water rides. Since he said no I wore my thick black eyeliner! HA! I looked like a mess the whole day with the black running all down my face...it was awesome. But the whole day was so fun! Since we got there right when Lagoon opened there was hardly any lines for most of the day..so we rode everything we wanted! Best way to go :) The scariest ride of them all was the Rocket, but the one that drops you from the top! Once we got up there Joe, Libby, and I were all FREAKING OUT!!! They keep you up there forever before they finally drop you. Jeff seemed fine but everyone else was panicked! But...we just had to do it!

So back in high school we used to always sneak out of class and go have breakfast at this like old ghetto breakfast place called Bishops. It was awesome because you would get like this huge plate of hashbrowns(my fave), eggs, sausage and toast for like 3bucks. It was always so fun because something funny always happened...mostly because the server was a complete wacko..but a good time. Anyways!!! They re-opened! They are called something totally different now, oh like Delilahs Cafe or something, but it is so cute inside! The food is still cheap, still good, and the service is way good too! Jeff and I decided this should be our spot, haha like the diner in Seinfield, or the City Perks in Friends. We'll see how that works out, but still its super cute in there we loved it!

So poor Jeff, because the last couple months I have been pretty consumed planning this baby shower. It was yesterday!! So it turned out really great and was super cute and fun, but I'm kinda glad the stress of it going over smoothly is over. Enough people came, decorations were put up in time, the new momma got tons of adorable girl presents...It was just great! But, I think it's super annoying how no one in Utah is ever close to on time. I guess this has taught me that when you put a time on an invite plan that everyone will start coming half hour later. (I'm kinda one of those people too..haha maybe I should work on that)

Recipe Book Idea...

So for our wedding we ordered this picture book online and used it as our sign in book. I was thinking this week that I am going to order one that is a custom recipe book! Well, maybe even a few different ones. Here's what I'm thinkin:

5. Dinner
6. Holiday
7. Around the world themes

I should probably make it to 10 so it is a good round collection. So if anyone has any family recipes they want to fit into the books let me know! It is gonna take me a while to get them all going, but we'll see how it turns out! I told Jeff last night that I'm going to make a collection of our kids favorite foods and when they get married order a custom recipe book for their spouse! Haha... he said, "That's right cause we're gonna have all boys! So that will be handy for their wives." So any mom's with sons I won't feel bad if you take the idea!

They really do make great gifts for people...especially newlyweds like us who are still learning how to cook good food.

Just ordered fabric for Jeff's Braves blanket!!! Every time we go to any store that has a fabric department Jeff always goes to see if they have anything Braves, which they NEVER do. So I finally decided to look online and just order some there! Found some.... so now hopefully I can make him a cool blanket that will be his favorite! So I recently decided just HOW MUCH I would love a craft room! One that you can decorate whatever crazy way you want, clutter as much as you want, have little weird things that boys have never heard of..all that! So I've been looking at ideas for little projects I can do to organize the craft stuff that I do have so some day soon when we get our own house it will be an easy transition to create this craft world of my imagination! This weekend we saw Despicable Me with Robbie & Lindsi. It was SO CUTE!!! I love Disney Movies because they are always so funny for both adults and kids! Lucky for us there were only a few kids in the 9 something show... maybe my opinion will change once I have kids, but I probably WOULD NOT!!! be taking my kids to the theater at a show that starts at almost ten oclock (kid show or otherwise these parents always seem so surprised when their kids throw fits in the movies!!HELLO!!) But we loved this one, super super cute!

So I usually sit by myself to watch Jeff's games...besides this one girl who comes to support her guy too (we're slowly becoming softball friends.haha.). But this game Court came with me and it was a lot of fun! Two games in a row is kind of a lot for me to sit through before getting too antsy, so it was nice having her to walk around and play with. We had our own little photoshoot on the side of the field after the break... and then tried to make the players feel like they had their own poparazi. It didn't work much, I think they just thought we were weirdos. But that makes me a success, anything I can do to embarrass Jeff seems to come naturally to me! :) I think that's fun, he doesn't most days ! Ha ha ha.

So we had two magnet boards that sat in the spear room forever...so I repainted one and made some cute magnets for my mom and gave the other one to Kacie for Brielle's room. Haha what do ya know that like two months later Jeff & I decided we should redo our ugly,crammed picture wall! We decided it would look good to put up one big thing and hang up our "Larsen est.2009" sign above it! So we went and bought a manget board and decorated it! The wall looks so much better...we'll have to get another picture up once we hang up the sign. I'm so excited that we don't have all those wild pictures hanging all over now!

It is so nice to have such a great husband who likes to help me with ideas around the house! Love you best husband ever! :)

OH Baby BabY!

This was like the most fun gift to make ever (because Court & Jeff helped me :)!

I got this idea a few months ago from my friend Emilee and after looking at some cute pictures online I decided just to finally do my own!

It took:

a box of 96 size/level 3 diapers

a ton of ribbon

and a piece of cardboard for the base.

For our base we just tore apart the diaper box and cut it down to size.

Estimated time to make: about 30 min. or so!

If you need help making one let me know..cause they are SO CUTE and so fun to make!!!

ps. buying diapers and realizing how expensive they are made us feel lucky we don't have to buy those all the time! YIKES!

Last night Macie & Brielle came over for a sleepover! We had so much fun painting nails, eating popcorn, watching movies and playing. Jeff built us a blanket fort to sleep in (see above) which was the BEST FORT EVER! :) Then he made us pancakes for breakfast in the morning. It was so fun! That is why girls are better than boys :)

Bus Tour in L.A.

So we got to take this bus tour in L.A. and it was so cool to see all the celebrity homes and get to know the history of the Hollywood. We saw way more houses than are on here but it's probably not as cool seeing them in photos as in real life. One of the best parts of going on the tour was when we were driving around we passed the actor that played Steve Urkle!!! I always tease Jeff and say (snort snort).."Uh did i do that?" So it was sentimental seeing that guy in real life! :) He took pictures of us on his cell while he drove by ...it was funny! Kanye West has the best view EVER! His house has four floors of balcanies with the view of L.A. skyline. His was the best!

The week after finals we will be heading to the Mexican Riviera on our very first cruise!!! This trip will be kind of like our honeymoon, break from life, and celebration of the end of the semester. We are so so so excited! If anyone has any good cruise advise let us know... but PLEASE spare the horror stories... like I said, it is our first cruise! (and it can be kind of scary all on its own)

Macbeth

So last night we went and saw the play Macbeth at the college. I was required to go for my English class, and Jeff is a good sport who will always accompany me to such events. I love plays (for the most part) and so it is always fun to get out and go see them, but sometimes they are torture for Jeff. This one I think he actually was doing ok! Except there was an old lady sitting next to him who farted through the whole first half of the show. I thought it was him because of all the attention he was giving it, but I think it really did end up being just her smell. (well maybe the combination of both of them, I dunno.) Anyways.. the play was pretty good I thought, for what it was. We just read the play Macbeth for class last week and then discussed it so it was really clear to me what was going on even though I couldn't really understand what was being said. Jeff on the other hand had no idea what was going on, so I got to narrate it for him the whole time, which was fun! (Probably annoying to those around us, but oh well;) ) I wish the play would have been set in it's original time frame and the accents more how I imagined them when I read the play instead of what they were. The play that we saw was placed during the Civil War, so people were speaking Shakespearian with southern accents, which is an awkward combo I think, just because it is so confusing!!! But, Macbeth did a really good job acting out his crazy character, I liked it.

Our first GRILL!!!

So our big task for today was to finally get our grill. We were so excited and went to the store to pick it out when we realized the box would definitely not fit in the poor little Focus. Kacie was so nice as to lend us their Durango and we went back to the store to pick it up! So we totally had to put the whole thing together ourselves.. I got to help at first, but there are some things that just have to be left up to Jeff to finish. I think it makes him feel more manly if I let him do it himself. Plus, I guess he takes after his dad with projects and being short tempered (which is hard to believe, but that's what I'm told). ANYWAYS... we are so excited about having it all put together and hope the rain goes away again so we can BBQ our steaks tomorrow!!! I think we are gonna try to plan a St. Patrick's Day BBQ, our first! I love that we get to have so many "firsts" together, it is just so cute!

I forgot about a movie we saw a couple weeks ago, DEAR JOHN. This one was a total chick flick and the story was so good, the actors were so sweet and you could really feel the love, BUT it was kind of dull. I would definitely read the book (unless you are like Jeff and don't read). Nicholas Sparks is such a great author and by the way the story was in the movie I bet this book is just awesome. We would recommend that you wait for this one to come out on DVD before you watch it.

Did You Hear About The Morgans?

We have kind of been on a movie kick lately, due in part to Jeff's addiction to movie theater popcorn, but it's fun to go out and see a good show. Tonight we went and saw DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE MORGANS... it was really a cute movie. It was kind of hard to hear some parts because of the senior citizens behind us who would not stop talking, and asking every two seconds for a replay of what was going on. But, never the less the movie was funny. It was at the cheapo theater so it must be coming out on DVD soon... so rent it when it comes out :)

Valentine's Day.. The MOVIE

So Friday night we went to see Valentine's Day with Matt and his cute newish girlfriend. It was really a lot better than we suspected it was going to be. Along the same lines as "He's Just Not That Into You" (which we liked), only it was more funny/entertaining. Movies like this where all the stories tie together in the end are so cool, because sometimes you are right about your matches and sometimes you are totally shocked! (There is a shocker in this one!) Taylor Swift and the other Taylor who played Jacob in Twilight we super annoying, the movie could have probably done just fine without them, but everyone else was so funny and cute! We love Ashton...he's a stud. Jeff thinks that Ashton Kutcher and Ryan Reynolds would make the ultimate comedy together, I agree 'cause they are probably some of the funniest young actors out there. ANYWAYS... you should probably go see this one, it's pretty cute.

Reflections of Christ @ St. George Temple Visiting Center...

Jesus walking on water

Last night I went to the St. George Temple Visiting Center to see the art gallery they have right now, "Reflections of Christ". These photographs are all so beautiful and really touch you with the spirit. If you haven't gone to see this you really should before it goes away, it is such a great experience! Luckily I was the only one in the room the night I went, because I just bawled the whole time. It is really cool because when you go into the center the Elders are so sweet and welcoming, and they give you a paper with a scripture for each of the photographs. So you walk through the room and read the scriptures and study the pictures related to the scripture. It is so awesome to have things like this since most of us are so visual, it really brings the scriptures to life. It really is a wonderful experience, so you really should go see it before it's gone. Otherwise, there is a book and video online that are also way touching!

So... I know it's new years and everyone probably has a resolution to "loose 10 pounds", or "get fit" or whatever and I guess ours is kinda turning into that too actually. Well, maybe not like really strict or anything, but just trying to eat a little bit better and trying to work out on a regular basis. So far so good, cause my buns are uh burnin... thanks to this video we picked up at Target! It's kinda funny cause here we were Tuesday night, just being lazy watching TV and reading when on comes Biggest Looser. We haven't ever gotten into this show at all but it was so amazing we could not turn it off! This one guy weighed over 500 pounds!!!! One of the smallest ladies was like 230... uh holy cow she weighs two of me.. but she didn't even look that big at all (compared to the other contestants) ANYWAYS.. I'm not trying to be rude by any means I just am shocked at how easy it is to get comfortable in your habits and tied down by work and just forget to take care of your body. People really act like just one day they woke up and were a whole nother person, which is completely believable because it's all about your habits. My point being... since living with a boy it has been a lot harder to keep good habits about what I eat and making time to work out. SO... we will be working harder with each other to stay out of the usual "let yourself go" once you get married :) (HOPEFULLY!) So anyone reading this... feel free to say put that piece of chocolate back in the bowl.. or even tell us to switch to water instead of having that regular coke. (We could use the extra push... haha)
This video really is a good quick work out if you can't make it to the gym or whatever, I think it's pretty cheap too! Let's motivate each other ... YEAH!

I woke up birthday morning to the sound of a princess singing happy birthday to me! When I walked into the living room there it was... a HUGE princess balloon for me :) with a rose and banners that said cute things! Then, Jeff served me a yummy breakfast and took me out shopping all day! What a lucky girl :) While we were out and about we took a couple stops along the way to take pictures and play....

Our first married New Years!

We spent this New Years with our neighbor friends The Zimmermans. A night full of Wii and treats was really fun! We walked down to First Night here in town (which was pretty high school) but we made it fun... listening the the band perform was pretty fun. Jeff always finds a way to get us all the attention with his loud and playful personality! :) Then we had hot chocolate and watched the fireworks go off from our backyard.. that was pretty awesome too!

So my sewing machine drama is resolved! I finally just calmed down enough to concentrate on what I was doing and DID IT! I swear that machine got me more mad than I probably have ever been on a project, which gave me the best feeling ever when I figured it out without any help! I asked everyone that I know who sews if they could help me but being the impatient person I am I didn't give them really a chance to help me and just kept yelling at the thing myself until it finally started working. So now for the last couple days I have been doing a practice of my project which is a "mini quilt".
My cousin Tracy is having the first next generation kid of the family (on my moms side). She is having a boy and he is due the beginning of June. I am so excited for her and thought I would make her a baby quilt. So after a year of having my sewing machine in its original box I decided to learn how to use it and make a special gift for her. I just hope I get the project done by June when the baby comes, lol, I have a hard time starting big projects thinking I'll have enough time and end up getting too busy. So this is my goal, get the baby's quilt done before the baby shower! :) Wish me luck! ( I know I can do it though)
